Zachary didn't like Halloween!
Zachary loving being outside!!WoW!!! I have no clue where the month went, but here we are !!!
Last week was another interesting week for Zach. He is still being fed only through his small intestine, and his stomach is used just for his medicine. Last Wednesday we realized that Zachary's pump wasn't able to put in the food he needed, so we flushed the tube (or tried to) but nothing was going through! The doctors told us to head to Santa Clara and get the tube un"clogged/twisted" that night. I took Zach over to Santa Clara and he enjoyed another night in the hospital. He had no choice but to go inpatient since he hadn't received any nutrients all day---and they had a fear he might dehydrate. Thursday morning they went in and found the tube twisted and wrapped around itself. The doctors removed that tube, and placed a new tube. There is no way to prevent the tube from wrapping/twisting/folding on itself. This is one of the main reasons that the doctors didn't want to do this procedure over the summer, but since his stomach can't work this was the next choice!!! Hopefully, it won't happen again.
Zach is tolerating feeds between 38&40 an hour. This is getting closer to his goal of 50 for 24 hours. He has lost weight again, so we are hoping that he can slowly increase his feeds. The doctors also recommended adding 4 teaspoons of coconut oil to his bag---we did that this weekend and lets just say it is OIL and he had severe diarrhea. Nice idea, but we won't be trying that again :-)
It is nice to have Zachary home, but boy is it a lot of work. It doesn't matter who is watching him that is their ONLY job. You have to sit right next to him and make sure he doesn't pull/twist/disconnect his tube. He still gets tired easily, and just wants to sit and watch LILO AND STITCH!!! This recovery will be long, but he is really happy and loves being home with his brothers. They both are really trying hard to make him laugh. Dominic, is also trying hard to move around his IV pole---just to get a reaction out of Zach!

I hope Zach continues to improve. I enjoy getting reading the updates. Sorry I haven't been around to help much lately. Obviously i've been a little busy with our new one, but it still doesn't compare to the amount of work you put forth for Zach. You continue to amaze me! Know that we continue to pray for your family. When I get back to church w/ the baby, we'd be happy to take Garrett and Dom with us if they want to go (or help you if you come too). And, FYI, there's going to be a change in the bishopric on Sunday. Dave has put in his 5 years and will be released this weekend! Crazy to think he might get to sit with the family soon.
